Overall, I think it’s an alright game. It has “punny” humor and some quirks to it. It’s a fun 6 – 10 hour RPG. However, I think that it’s reception is a tad overrated, it’s not the “best PC game ever” as some people would want you to believe. With the majority of the game being made by one guy, it’s a decent finished product. Although the counter point to that is “Fez” which was, mostly, made by 2 people. Once the “hype” around this game dies down I would like to see what opinions come out of the wood work. Most of the detractors of “Undertale” seem to just get shouted down by white knights and SJWs.

Like I told Lusi, based on what was streamed, I don’t think it’s fair to judge the game based on an optional cutscene and the “true ending”.

I might try Undertale, after all look the marvelous feedbak printed in the face of Lusipurr that you can see in the video , his voice filled with such strong emotions, clearly undertale is a game to be reckoned with.

Too bad that so many people on twitter had fail in telling me :

    1) How is the plot?

    2) Is it too emotional? crybaby like? because that could be annoying to me

3)what do you mean is earthbound 4?

The cynical side in me would just try to fill a paragraphs with words full of sarcasm making empty promises to watch and play such game but luckly I am just not that guy just now, maybe 3 seconds before, but now then which is now in the past.

Now being serious, the part that is an rpg in which you don’t have to kill anything makes it sound boring for me, that being said, I have a link where a feminist is being arrested while screaming rape and that looks more fun:

I agree with Ferchu. That video is more enjoyable than Undertale, and its ending is waaaaaaay better!

    It’s more emotional too!! ;)

That female has the most annoying voice in the history of humanity. Gilbert Gottfried, your title is lost.

@Ferchu The plot is one of the most layered plots of an indie I have ever played. There is time travel, reincarnation, reanimation, and permanent death (depending on how you play). The nice thing about it is that it isn’t all presented to you in a theologically pushy info dump, it’s sprinkled throughout the game and different playthroughs. Basically, if you haven’t caught on, it’s a game that suggests you play through it more than once in different styles.

The plot itself isn’t too emotional or cry baby. It takes the idea of a grinding/leveling and turns it on its head. Which I think is the draw for many veterans of the genre. The reason I think SJWs are drawn to the plot of the game is because it has a seemingly gender neutral protagonist (which at the end of the game is revealed to be female), there is no love story to speak of except for one budding lesbian relationship, there is “quirky”/punny dialogue, and it paints humanity in a pretty bad light.

It’s NOT earthbound 4 nor do I think it is a spiritual successor to Earthbound. It takes a lot of inspiration from Earthbound, most evident in it’s graphical style, but at the end of the day it’s very much it’s own thing.

I felt that the writing was not particularly funny or good, and I think that is a reasonable assumption to make after reading pages and pages and pages of it, even if it is only near the end of the game. After all, if that is what I am playing toward, and I find it neither engaging nor entertaining, it is clearly not being made with my sense of humour in mind.

Certainly plenty of people seem to enjoy it, and more power to them. But it is rather ordinary by the writing standards I desire.

I have never seen a good game attached to an ending as bad as that one.

Undertale is pretty great actually. Its definitely one of those games that doesn’t force any ideas at you, and you sort of have to make of it what you will. The reason the SJW crowd love is because it’s an easy game to twist to fit your narrative even though you can as a player make it an incredibly dark and sad game.

Let me explain, their are 3 endings(maybe more?), the genocide ending in which you kill everything, that path through the game is very dark and pretty awesome, the neutral ending in which you spare something and kill some overs, and the goody two shoes ending in which you talk your way out of everything. So it might seem all progressive watching someone try the peaceful path, or it could seem pretty pitch black when viewed through the commit genocide path.

The combat is pretty refreshing/bizarre, and the game really tries a lot of neat clever ideas with it that are often pretty funny, and it never stops being surprising.

@Lusi/SiliconNooB How can the ending be “wonderful” when all those useless fucks were reborn in the world of FFXV. NO THANKS!

There is no escape from Final Fantasy XV. It even creeps into Final Fantasy XIII, which was released years before it. IT IS THAT BAD.

Please God let Final Fantasy XVI be like IX.

Well… France is a fantasy based on reality, so they kind of had to return for the sequel!
