...Ko na mi is on fire, my fair lady!

Ko na mi is on fire, on fire, on fire…

The Starlight Megaphone
Download: Produced 2015.09.27

When Konami headquarters bursts into flames, Lusipurr and SiliconNooB hurry to the scene of the conflagration, where they speculate as to the cause of the blaze, crack jokes, report on Square Enix’s manifold prevarications, and read a book about knights.

The show you’re thinking of is Welcome to the NHK, which was essentially black comedy about being a suicidal otaku and probably one of the better shows/manga to come out of the mid 00s.

In honour of Konami apparently burning to the ground, I present appropriate 80s fare:

Why do I have a feeling Lusipurr visited there beforehand and now has on his walls all the Dracula-X artwork thought to be lost in the fire?

    Burning down the house!
Yes, I was thinking of Welcome to the NHK.

*Turns out it wasn’t actually on fire, nor was it 3 years ago when these same images made circulation originally.

    Konami says not stopping development
Even if they really aren’t stopping development, do we really want any more Konami games?

    Retro VGS
I agree with SN here. If this thing were popularly supported it would be cool. As it stands it looks like if the Ouya had an even smaller target market.

    Bioshock disappears from appstore
How would you even play an FPS on a touch screen?

    Persona 5 Enter into person
Persona bit off a piece of Psychonauts.

    Setsuma will have ATB
    Truly ridiculous.

    Bup Talk
    Favorite Konami franchise
Wow, I learned something in the Bup talk this week. Unheard of.
    List of Konami Franchises

My personal favorite is Castlevania, but I haven’t played one since they stopped making the 2D ones.

    Imitanis Literature Corner
The Once and Future King by T.H. White

Merlin is still great. Maybe since the book is so long you could read a couple of chapters when there’s a short one like this week? That can’t have been more than 5ish pages.

    Imitanis Gaming Entertainment? Moment
Follow up for last week. Since last week I’ve decided that the sorcerer will be an aspect of Tiamat it makes more sense to have a female sorcerer and I’ve got an established character that will be perfect for that role.

This last week the only thing that I’ve ever Kickstarted came in. It’s a board game called Catacombs.

Catacombs is a dungeon crawling game. Fantasy heroes fight fantasy monsters and get loot etc. The catch, is that this is a dexterity game. In this case that means that all playing pieces are represented by wooden discs. Melee attacks are performed by flicking your disc at another disc. If you make contact, then you’ve hit and do damage. Ranged attacks are made by placing the piece for the arrow/fireball/etc next to your piece and then flicking that piece at your target. This causes some pretty crazy things to happen: your wizard blasts a Minotaur by bouncing a fireball off of the thief or the barbarian goes into a rage and runs head first into a pillar, twice. Sometimes you can get amazing shots in also where you hit your target from across the board with a tiny arrow.

What I really like about making dungeon combat into a dexterity game is that it simultaneously adds chaos and skill elements into a game style that is typically driven by dice. This really makes the game more interesting, and makes this worth picking up if you at all like fantasy or dungeon crawl type games. It plays best with 2,3,and 5 players but also supports 4. The more players you can get, the better as the game becomes a nail biter and the entire table cheers or groans at amazing or awful shots. A game takes about 2 hours to play depending upon the skill of the players. Recommended for people who don’t want to take their fantasy games too seriously.

    DiceAdmiral Travel Moment
None this week, but I expect there to be much in the coming week. In fact, I’ll likely be unable to post an Info Blast next week. Apologies in advance.

    Final Notes
Lusi: So if you hate shows that end seasons on cliffhangers then you would hate Stargate Atlantis. That show was riddled with them. Did you ever watch that show?

    “Yes”

Er, the images we were looking at were not the same ones from three years ago: https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/rmlauhvasl0vuwttgwn1.jpg

The slider image is from three years ago because we don’t need another slider image of the same thing, only during the day instead of at night.

Even if they really aren’t stopping development, do we really want any more Konami games?
I don’t know what you’ve been hearing, but everyone seems to love Metal Gear Solid V, including SiliconNooB, who has said so on this podcast. And that’s a Konami game. People were upset because Silent Hills was cancelled–that, too, was a Konami game. People still clamour for another Suikoden game. That’s a Konami game, too. So, I think the answer to your question is: yes.

If this thing were popularly supported it would be cool.
That was never even remotely likely, and anyone who thought otherwise was deluded. I told SN this back when it was announced. It would be nice if we lived in a world where things like this could take off–but we don’t.

    Truly ridiculous.
I’m still too angry for words.

That can’t have been more than 5ish pages.
    2.5 in fact!

it makes more sense to have a female sorcerer and I’ve got an established character that will be perfect for that role.
Named Ginia and she should be short with white hair and a short temper and a loud voice and a predilection for bacon and maple syrup and pancakes and The Sims.

So if you hate shows that end seasons on cliffhangers then you would hate Stargate Atlantis. That show was riddled with them. Did you ever watch that show?
I watched the movie Stargate. It was terrible. I saw tiny bits of the television series (which may have been Atlantis or something else). It looked terrible. In general, I don’t watch much TV unless it is Anime or British period mystery programmes.

Another one of these that I’ll be passing on unfortunately.
Well, your sitting out means 25% of our readership won’t be participating! Actually, it may be 33% now that we’ve hired Adeki.

Maybe we’ll just do a one-week playthrough of Chrono Cross and see how far everyone gets.
