Unfortunately, this podcast was recorded before news reached us of the death of Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, at the age of 55. Over the course of the next week, and culminating in TSM Episode 333, our content will attempt to pay tribute to Iwata, his ideals, and his creations.

Because we love games, the news of Iwata’s death has hit hard the Lusipurr.com staff. For us, he was the innovative force behind some of the most singular episodes of our childhood; and then, as President of Nintendo, he was the soul of an industry which has been all too quick to sell its principles in order to score ideological points or to make bigger profits.

Iwata knew the purpose of games, and on this he never compromised: “Games are meant to be just one thing. Fun. Fun for everyone.”

Lusipurr.com bows its head in remembrance, respect, admiration, and profound sadness. To say that Satoru Iwata will be missed is insufficient, terribly insufficient. But it is true nevertheless. There is a hole now, in the soul of gaming, and the pain is very great indeed.

Thank you, Satoru Iwata. We will miss you.

I’m really looking forward to the NES reviews because your bad game reviews are some of the most fun content out there. I’m also looking forward the Iwada content which I’m confident will be fitting of his legacy.

@LC11: Thanks. But I dread bad game reviews–they are genuinely awful!

I will be speaking with the staff about availability, and we should have a schedule for streaming up by mid-week. Expect the first game–Adventure of Link–to be streamed from Friday.

I’m absolutely taken aback. Nintendo has always held the biggest part in my love for gaming, so this hits deep. Nice words of remembrance for Mr. Iwata; I’m definitely looking forward to more from the site about him.

I’ve never actually played more than ten minutes of Zelda II without getting extremely frustrated. I am looking forward to watching Lusipurr get frustrated over it.

@Lusipurr: Yes, it looked that way . Would have been easier to endure it if you were to play that game on mute (that game was born to play on mute) while listening to your favorite music?
