My absence has obviously had severe and unforeseen consequences.
Wait until next week when we do “Lusi-sexes…”

The final round of the PAX Omegathon was Mario Maker this year and it was some crazy hard level that the developers made.
I would make it my bitch. My joy is finding ‘impossible’ levels and then slowly grinding through them until I can crush them beneath my foot.

For a game about Disney characters teaming up with Final Fantasy characters to kick the butts of their respective villains, the series sure has a confusing as hell story.
Organisation XIII which is not Red XIII but is like Shinra or the Turks also the Forgotten which are not the Forsaken Donald Duck Key Blade Sora bah bah bah bubububububububububbuub

Some of the most memorable levels are from Super Mario World where suddenly you find yourself on a level with entirely moving platforms or lots of crushing walls.
Gotta love that Athletic Theme as you’re racing along through a level on a moving platform, surrounded by giant sawblades and flying koopa troopas.

The catch, is that all of your ships are represented by standard 6 sided dice.
I am beginning to think that these games are just a metaphor that you use to explain how you spend all day long at the craps table in Las Vegas.

Did you guys miss the Pokemon GO announcement for this cycle or just choose not to cover it?
I spoke about it with SN before the podcast. We didn’t have much to say about it, and so it fell by the wayside. When they announce the (likely vile) degree to which they are going to monetise it, you may ready yourself for my incendiary fury.

WELCOME BACK, DR. IDA MALICE!

New Releases
Mario Maker
The final round of the PAX Omegathon was Mario Maker this year and it was some crazy hard level that the developers made.

Post level code to podcast comments. The level that receives the highest rating from the LusiCom staff will win for its creator a $60 game of their choice.

NEWS
Pikmin Re-re-released
*Article is about Pikmin 4, couldn’t find source for discussed story.

FFV Re-released to steam
I don’t think I’ve played this one. I doubt this will prompt a change in that status.

Miyamoto Mario Interview
What a shame. I enjoy the occasional 2D Mario, but the 3D ones have been some of my favorite games.

Marty ODonnel Wins against Bungee
Bungie are A-Holes
You called that one exactly right Lusi. What a shame.

Kingdom Hearts: 2.9 in development
For a game about Disney characters teaming up with Final Fantasy characters to kick the butts of their respective villains, the series sure has a confusing as hell story. Even if this were available for a system that I owned, I doubt I’d get it.

Bup Talk
What makes for the best Mario level?

I like a consistent theme/game play element in a good Mario level. Some of the most memorable levels are from Super Mario World where suddenly you find yourself on a level with entirely moving platforms or lots of crushing walls. It helps the level feel consistent and whole and lets you get into a groove, which is ideal for creating that itch to replay when you die.

The Once and Future King ch 2
I guess I should go back and listen to chapter 1…
The Wort sounds like Milo from The Phantom Tollbooth.

I enjoyed this so far and am looking forward to more.

Imitanis Gaming Entertainment? Moment
This last few weeks I played several games, but I’d like to hightlight Quantum

Quantum is a light 4x (expand, explore, exploit, exterminate) space game. If this doesn’t ring a bell think Civilization or Age of Empires. The game is about colonizing planets and you win by colonizing a certain number of planets before any of the other players. You will send your ships to planets to colonize them, but the other players will fight you and attempt to keep you from doing so. When you colonize a planet you can get either a 1 time bonus or a permanent ability, from a choice of 3 of each. Bonuses might increase the size of your fleet and abilities might make your ships faster.

The catch, is that all of your ships are represented by standard 6 sided dice. If that sounds lame then this might not be for you, but try and bear with me. The
dice represent both the speed of your ships and their fighting ability. To fight another ship you simply move your ship onto theirs. You both roll a die and add the value to your ship’s pips to determine the winner. Not so fast though, lower numbers win combats. This means that your zippy little 6 scout ship will be totally obliterated by your opponent’s battle station 1. Remember also that the pips are speed though, so your awesome ships will be slowly inching their way across the board.

Colonization also depends upon these numbers, with each planet having a number that must be hit exactly by the sum of your orbiting ships in order to colonize. This makes the movement of each ship incredibly important so that you can bring in your 6 to help capture the 10 planet without being destroyed first.

Each type (number) of ship has a unique special ability and the combination of these really make the maneuvering in the game shine. The 1 can attack twice, the 2 can carry other ships when it moves, the 5 can move diagonally and so forth.

If you like smashing up your opponents and conquering space and don’t mind the abstraction of ships being dice then I strongly recommend this game. Three Blasts Out of Four.

DiceAdmiral Travel Moment
I’ve done a lot of traveling lately, I’ll not list it all but highlights included PAX Prime and some really terrific live stage productions.

LUSIPURR (as Jerry Seinfeld): Yes. I know how you save in Zelda.

SN: Well, I’m asking–

LUSI: I know you’re asking. I know why you’re asking. You don’t have to tell me why you’re asking.

SN: Okay. Well, when you come back after saving, you’re not where you were. Why aren’t you where you were?

LUSI: What do you mean? Where are you?

SN: Somewhere else!

LUSI: Somewhere else!?

SN: Somewhere else!

LUSI: Why would you be somewhere else!?

SN: THAT’S WHAT I WANNA KNOW!

[The door bursts open. BUP (as Cosmo Kramer) enters. Applause.]

BUP: Hey, Lusi. Can I poop in your sink?

To be frank, I tune it mostly just to hear you guys ramble about whatever has your eye at the moment. Also, since you compared the show to Seinfeld it’s only appropriate you find a way to work the theme into an episode somewhere.

I have a feeling I won’t be able to make hard levels. Also so psyched for Pikmin 4. Maybe I’ll just make a level that’s a series of coins that a Pikmin flipping you off.
