Perhaps Inafune was hoping to grab more cash from nostalgia rather than displaying he can work without Capcom.

It’s a cliched show, but it’s aware of what it is and doesn’t dally.

I have to say I’ve never actually -heard- of Vampire Knight, but I found it on Neon Alley and I’ll give it a shot.

Actually, I Am… is a vampire story to the same degree that Rosario + Vampire is, which is to say that vampirism appears to be a supernatural fillip which sets up the premises for each week’s romantic comedy plot. That said, I can only speak to the first episode (the second episode will be broadcast tomorrow).

If you haven’t seen Vampire Knight, I’d recommend it. It’s a similar take on the ‘Vampires in a School setting’ motif, but the show is a tragedy rather than a comedy. I mean that in the classical sense: the focus is the inexorable walk towards unavoidable and inevitable doom (tragedy), rather than on the means taken for the successful establishment of a relationship (comedy).

SiliconNooB is right about AIA…
The first episode features a fearsome class president. She’s an Ice Lady!

I realize we’d discussed the issue of the chain of command, but I can’t shake the notion that the man wasn’t so much ignorant as he just didn’t care. Now that I’m hearing about the quality of MN9, and the rush to cash in on the legacy of MML, I’m beginning to suspect Inafune may be Japan’s version of Tim Schafer.

I had no idea ‘Actually I Am…’ was a vampire story. I’d mistaken it for the standard-fare slice of life with cute girls anime that’s never been my forte. I’ll be sure to give it a shot this week.

Not that anyone asked, but I rather enjoyed the first episode of Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers. Very JRPGish, surprisingly well animated, and fast paced.
