Good read Mel.

I miss the dedication to post-launch support which was established by companies like EPIC and Valve on their PC titles. Unreal Tournament 99 received countless free content updates, as did its successors: expansion packs, new game modes, weapons, maps, character skins–the works. As for Valve, I doubt I even need to begin to start discussing TF2.
Both of those titles were, as a result, hugely successful. As long as the updates kept coming, they remained the definitive game in their genre, even years later. Let’s have that again.
Achoo!
