Sure the animations are pretty, but the item has a similar effect as the Blue Shell in Mario Kart does, except worse because even the first place fighter can grab the SB. I really don’t understand why Nintendo can’t offer a casual mode toggle that slows the action down a bit. They could include it on the title screen and bam, both sides are happy.

I agree that it is not good for the series. I could argue that I could simply turn it off, and that is true and shouldn’t be entirely ignored, but the fact is that the game is designed considering all its elements and so I am excited, but not without hesitance for the new games.

Brawl really hurt the franchise, in my opinion. The Smash ball is a poor addition, and the more I think about the effect it has on the game, the less I like it.

Seeing that the next title looks to continue Brawl’s trends, and to amplify them, I no longer even know if I will buy Smash at launch.
