As for the article itself, you are absolutely correct, Scott. I would never defend my launch day purchase of the PS4 as a smart decision from a logical standpoint. It was purely an acknowledged indulgence. Waiting for the PS2 slim, the PS3 slim, and the DS Lite were all excellent decisions for me. Often cheaper, better design, and there was actually a library for the platform. Definitely the smarter move.

Buying consoles at launch is usually a bad idea, with many of the games just being PS3/360 titles that have been made a bit prettier. I did a thorough upgrade of my PC back in January, and besides a SSD and, perhaps, a bit more RAM, I expect to be able to play most next-gen games on my PC. Console exclusive will be what drive my PS4 purchase, but that will be sometime in the future, especially with Persona 5 looming in the PS3’s future.
