One continually gets the impression that most major players in this industry are just here to juice this medium for every drop rather than the fewer who appreciate, enjoy, or even understand the products they serve.

I have ZERO sympathy for developers who cry poor because they ONLY sold 3.5 million copies.

Interestingly, I was reading about a study the other day that found that eliminating the used game market would serve to reduce the profitability of new release games; but that if the price of new games was lowered to $40 and then used games were banned, then that would increase the profitability of new release games. Basically, the PC market has got the pricing-structure right, and console games $20 too expensive to meet their mass market potential.
