Sure, Abyssea was grindy as all hell, but if you found a group you could get amazing loot in a not unreasonable amount of time. I’ve gotten all but two +2 hands items for Monk, Ninja, Black Mage, Scholar, Puppetmaster, and Summoner. My Ninja has a level 85 Kannagi (and a not trash weaponskill that actually does damage). The Abyssea story was even pretty decent.

It’s just ashame to see that Sqeenix seems to have put the game on auto-pilot when there was so much more in Vana’diel to explore. The Mithran homeland, the frozen north full of gigases (gigii?), Tenken’s far eastern homeland and Phoenix sword thing. /sigh

As a veteran of WoW I can honestly say that if it was not for the community that I’m a part of, I would have stopped playing entirely. When I hit level 60 after release I had no guild to play with and stopped playing until Wrath of the Lich King.

Also, twenty levels in three hours?!? Madness!
