In the final podcast on the current generation of consoles, the panel takes apart the PS3 and its cleverdick marketting department. Oliver is ticketted for speeding, Ethos dodges a foosball, and Lee takes umbridge: hang on tight, it’s a bumpy ride!

I am first….yayz.
2009.03.30 at 05:50
Once again Bup proves how bad he is at doing an accent.
2009.03.30 at 07:34
Uncharted is far far far better than MGS4.
2009.03.30 at 08:38
Wanted would have to be one of the most stupid and pointless movies I have ever seen, who in their right mind would think it suitable material on which to base a game? The only good thing I could possibly say about it is that it wasn’t as bad as Indiana Jones 4, but then that isn’t saying much.
2009.03.30 at 09:31
So, a movie that has insane action, badass-acting characters, and special abilities normal people are unable to do isn’t something to base a game off? I think 99% of games disagree with you.
2009.03.30 at 11:28
No Bup not badass-acting…just bad acting. But you’re right I find 99% of games most disagreeable, which is why I don’t buy any old crap like Wanted or Blood on the Sand. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anything more ridiculous then having fast enough reflexes to alter a bullets trajectory, I mean how does that work?
2009.03.30 at 11:30
How does summoning a fire beast like Ifrit work?
I agree with Nate, I haven’t seen Wanted, but surreality is exactly what games are about. EVEN the realistic ones.
The closer games come to reality, the more they suck: Home.
Also, Indiana Jones 4 was awesome.
2009.03.30 at 11:37
Ethos, you should watch Wanted.
2009.03.30 at 11:40
Ethos, you should definitely watch Wanted.
2009.03.30 at 14:28
I’m going to have to disagree with Nate about Uncharted 2 being a system seller. People who know what it is have played Uncharted 1 and already have PS3s.
2009.03.30 at 14:42
Disagreed, evilpaul.
Like I said on the cast, the first one has generated a lot of hype. I’ve actually talked to a lot of people who say that Uncharted 2 is the game that is finally going to make them buy a PS3.
The first one started off kinda quiet but has generated a lot of momentum. People know what it is now, and the first one was advertised, so don’t think they’ll be holding back on the sequel.
2009.03.30 at 15:24
Shoot, People should buy a PS3 for Uncharted 1!

Ethos – Sony 1st party games are always like that. They start off slow and build up steam. They almost never have the big bang that you see from other game franchises. God of War is really the only thing I can think of from Sony that busts the doors open. Their games normally just linger for years, accumulating sales slowly.
Oyashiro – Agreed. It comes with the 160GB bundle. :D
Regarding WANTED, I still gotta watch the movie, but the GameTrailers review had me convinced not to buy it. It seems overly repetitive and apparently clocks in at 5 hours.
As to the controllers debate, the PS3 has the better Dpad, no question. The 360, however, has the better sticks, triggers and face buttons. Both, however, are more than serviceable for the most part, and any game can be played on them with little adaptation*.
(*:Except 2D fighting games. Those SUCK on the 360 pad)
2009.03.30 at 19:13
My name is Ethos and I endorse Master Chief’s previous post.
But furthermore, no matter the pattern of Sony 1st party titles, I think it’s still an argument in favour of Uncharted 2 being a system seller which was my ultimate point.
2009.03.30 at 19:52
Uncharted 1 is still the best PS3 exclusive, and one of the best games of the current generation. IMO it will be a system seller, albeit not a massive one unless it is timed to coincide with a price cut.
2009.03.30 at 19:56
Yeah, I think a E3 price cut announcement at the LATEST is necessary.
2009.03.30 at 20:23
I’m guessing tomorrow’s “big announcement” regarding the PS3 will be a price cut. Could be wrong, but we’ll know for a fact soon enough.
2009.03.30 at 20:34
They outright denied it, but I doubt that actually means anything. I didn’t even know about that announcement until you mentioned it, Montok, and I looked ‘er up.

2009.03.30 at 23:05
Well yes, but like I said: could mean zero.
2009.03.30 at 23:11
EARLIE APRILS FOOLS! Sony raises the price! xD
2009.03.30 at 23:59
Oh, I forgot to mention: Home is garbage. I’m a Second Life user myself, and when I see how constrained Home is compared to SL, I find myself wondering why anyone with a brain in his/her head would bother with Sony’s advertisement scheme. You can do so much more in Second Life than you ever could in Home. And you know what? Second Life is also free.
2009.03.31 at 13:54
Second Life is free… of advertising garbage!
See what I did there? Ha ha, I am such a wit!
2009.03.31 at 23:05
Oops. I meant to send that feedback to the TalkingTranny podcast. Sorry for the mix-up.
Joking aside, I completely agree with Nate on the “Home is free” argument. Yeah, it might be kinda pointless and limited, but let’s all remember, Sony isn’t making anyone use it. It’s completely optional and free of charge, and as such, the most negative reaction anyone should have to Home is indifference. “Garbage” might be a little extreme.
Another important fact to remember is that it’s still in open beta. Of course, it will probably be in open beta forever, but the service is going to keep changing. It was a big yawn when they released it, but there’s potential for it to get better.
2009.04.01 at 04:12
I actually went into Home yesterday. I had to redownload it. :P
But I was actually surprised at how long I stayed in there. Almost two hours just talking to people. No ass humpers in sight. It actually isn’t that bad, Its still useless. But I can tell you I actually added more friends in that 2 hours then playing SFIV for a month.
Some of the spaces aren’t to bad either. I’ll be in there once that EA space opens up for the online poker and what not.
For it being completely free and optional, I can’t really say its that bad. I would love it if they used it to stream press events and such.

Lusipurr – Well, there are some ads in SL, but most of it is for inworld stuff. You know, people selling furniture for your SL home, YouTube TVs, stuff like that. Nowhere near as egregious as Home, though, and it feels a lot more genuine.
