TSM Episode 260: Twitch Plays Pokemon

Many of the twitch users look even more frightening than these Pokemon.

Strangely apt.

Lusipurr, editing the podcast several days later, cannot remember what transpired during its recording. Insulated by his ignorance, he fabricates the details: Durga Syn explodes, knocking out both Regg and Mel, but Brock sends in Geodude for the win!

I am also a Libra. And Thor the Dark World, as well as Marvel superhero movies are as much a bane as Hollywood itself. A propaganda machine for idiocy and misinformation.

Also, I’m still waiting for the porn industry’s parody of Flappy Bird, which will no be titled Fappin’ Bird.

And last comment (I should really finish a bloody show before commenting), I rather like what I’ve seen of Deliverance. While I do not support Kickstarters on principle, I do enjoy some of the products that people with more money than I wind up creating.

As to Deliverance itself, it puts me very much in mind of a 1960s historical epics such as El Cid. Of course it’s going to be romanticized. As you pointed out, no one wants an entirely realistic game set in a period of history when making it to 30 was an act of God. Escapism rarely works when it adheres to reality anyways.

And besides, it beats another Mafia game.

I just want to point out, and perhaps the playwright himself knew this and was being ironic, but if Paloneus actually had the gumption to follow his own philosophy “To Thine own self, be true”, he wouldn’t have gotten stabbed by Hamlet for spying on the Prince and Gertrude.

Yes, out of ALL the possible things I could have brought up, it had to be that!

@Iliya: I don’t know about that reading. You’d have to argue that Polonius’ presence in Gertrude’s bedchamber was not true to his character, and I think it was. Always ingratiating and servile, and eager to play on Hamlet’s ‘seeming’ problems, his conversation with Gertrude at that particular juncture seems entirely reasonable. Of course, his conclusion that being true to oneself results in being true to every man is entirely fallacious, as we see repeatedly in the play.

Polonius’ advice (given to his son, Laertes) is certainly not something he exactly follows–but in this particular instance, his simple presence in the bedchamber seems in no way to be a violation of it.

Remember, he wasn’t intentionally spying. He was caught with Gertrude and hid to avoid Hamlet.

This feels like an awful thing for Ken Levine to do. If he really wants to make games with a small team, then leave the company to someone else, recruit the people you want and move on to another company.

I loved your commentary on this Lusi. You are perfectly equipped to dissect this game.

Trackmania Nations is a pretty great game. The whole thing is controlled with the arrow keys but has surprisingly difficult tracks and awesome sense of speed.

    Good cast mens!

IMO he has dissolved Irrational because he has had to do so, either at the insistence of 2k, or because the studio’s finances were not in good health. I do not buy that BS about wanting to make smaller digital only products – that is the sort of thing that developers say so as not to get shit-canned by their employer.

When the question was posed as to what will happen when Faygo gets to some awful place, I wondered if they already sell it in Mississippi.
