Announcement: Site News, Q1 2011

What ho all! Welcome to our first-ever site news post.

Lusipurr.com

Lusipurr.com

The purpose of the site news post is to keep our readers apprised of some behind-the-scenes aspects of Lusipurr.com. Some of the information may already have been related in passing during the Megaphones Ahoy! Podcast, whereas other news items might be completely new to our readers. We at Lusipurr.com hope that the site news post will educate and inform our readers. Please use the comments to let us know what you think of the following proposals:

- We are considering adding a PayPal ‘Donate’ link to the sidebar at right. Because Lusipurr.com does not use advertising of any sort, all of the operating costs of the site (~$200-250 US per annum) come from staff donations. To help offset the burden on the staff–who already work for free–we would like to give charitable readers the option to throw away their money quickly and easily. What do you think of this plan?

- Lusipurr.com has formed a professional TF2 team to play in the ETF2L, and there is a monthly open TF2 night for casual, fun play. Everyone loves multiplayer games without monthly fees! That said, would you be interested in once-monthly, casual play of one of the free-play Blizzard titles (Diablo II, Starcraft II, or Warcraft III) during a TF2 off week?

- The site is considering streamlining and professionalising content, including forming a press department responsible for creating and maintaining industry contacts with developers, publishers, and other news outlets. We are also considering creating a review rating system. What are your thoughts on these potential directions for the site?

As always, we appreciate any and all feedback that we receive. Your comments will shape the direction of the site. After all, without our readers, there is no site at all!

Thank you!

Just a heads-up that based on the Skype chat we’ve had, we’re considering a D2 playthrough on the third week of the month. So we’d have TF2 on the first week, then a fortnight later we’d have D2.

The LoD expansion would be required, but the set can be purchased brand new on Amazon for $25 and I think about the same at Best Buy (possibly less).

Definitely looks like D2. I’ve a sorceress and Gin has a Necromancer. Wooo.

If you own it, let us know and we’ll start working on a weekly time that works for everyone–probably a Saturday evening or something.

Have you considered a Bake Sale or an Ice Cream Social as potential site cost/maintenance generating opportunities?

    Lusipurr.com Final Fantasy XIV Linkshell!

But seriously, if this becomes a regular thing, I might pick up D2.

I don’t know if I have time to play D2 with you all this semester, but it shouldn’t be as bad after April. I might try to join in then.

Hrm, too many people are starting to like it. On second thought, maybe a new Ethos isn’t such a great idea.

Give it enough time and then I’ll consider it RETRO and I can like it again.

But who will bemoan that RETRO Ethos isn’t as good as everyone remembers?
